Khwaja Muhammad Sirajuddin Naqshbandi, a prominent Sufi shaikh, was born on this day in 1879. ***** Khwaja Muhammad Sirajuddin Naqshbandi (Urdu: خواجہ محمد سراج الدین نقشبندی ) (b. 15 Muharram 1297 AH (December 30, 1879), Mussa Zai Sharif, Dera Ismail Khan, India - d. 26 Rabi al-Awwal 1333 AH (February 12, 1915), Mussa Zai Sharif, Dera Ismail Khan, India) was a prominent Islamic scholar and Sufi shaikh of the Naqshbandi Sufi order in South Asia (present day Pakistan), and a leader of the Mughal Empire (1897-1899). His legacy and influence are still widespread around the world in terms of his followers and his methodology. ' Alī ibn Mūsā ar-Riḍā ( Arabic : علي ابن موسى الرّضا ), also called Abu al-Hasan , Ali al-Reza (b.c. December 29, 765 [11 Dhu al-Qidah 148AH], Medina, Hijaz, Abbasid Empire (now Saudi Arabia) - d. The Great Mosque of Mecca , Arabic al-Masjid al-Ḥarām , also called the Grand Mosque, the Holy the Mosque or Haram Mosque , is the mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, built to enclose the Ka'bah, the holiest shrine in Islam. As one of the destinations of the hajj and 'umrah pilgrimages, the Great Mosque receives millions of worshippers each year. On November 20, 1979 the Great Mosque (Grand Mosque) of Mecca was at the center of a rebellion against the Saudi royal family when it was seized by a group of several hundred Islamic militants led by Juhaymān al-ʿUtaybī and Muḥammad bin 'Abd Allah al-Qaḥṭānī.
